Welcome to my blog,
My name is Urgyen Gyalpo I received my formal training in authentic Traditional Himalaya Buddhist Arts & Thangka Painting at the acclaimed Tsering Art School in Katmandu Nepal from 1996-2006. I was trained under one of the most highly respected and esteemed painting masters of today, Venerable Konchog Ladrepa. After my training i took on an administrative role for one year while continuing to refine his skills. The style of painting is the Karma Gadri style, a form of painting from eastern Tibet that is known for it’s spacious landscapes and transparent hues.
In 2004 participated in the UNESCO workshop on Thangka restoration and conservation in Nepal.
At Shechen Monastery in Bodh Gaya, India, i painted the complete collection of mural paintings depicted the twelve sacred aspects of the Life of the Buddha and painted the monasteries sacred statues. I also completed the first painted depictions of Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche’s terma as frescos in the temple of Khawalung Monastery in Nepal.
I had also traveled internationally working on restoration of old works and the creation of new works. During my six years as a resident at Riwoche Temple in Toronto, I had beautified the walls of the main prayer hall with paintings, and decorated the columns, walls and ceiling in exquisite traditional Tibetan patterns and symbols as well as completing many private commissions.
Today, I am continuing Buddhist Thangka painting, realistic art, graphic designing, line illustrations, logos and other designs.
Thank you for taking a moment out of your busy day.
